Thomas B. SearightThomas B. Searight

In 1896, Thomas Brownfield Searight of Uniontown, Pennsylvania wrote and published the first detailed record of the National Pike (The Old Pike, reprinted by Heritage Books). This epic work details virtually every aspect of life along the road. This massive book (380 pages) includes scores of photographs as well as interviews with teamsters, tavern operators, and common folk.
