Thomas B. Searight

Thomas Brownfield Searight was born on February 20, 1827, at Searights, Pennsylvania (just west of Uniontown). He was a newspaperman, local historian and elected official for western Pennsylvania.

In 1896, Searight wrote and published the first detailed record of the National Pike, The Old Pike, . This epic work details virtually every aspect of life along the road. This massive book (380 pages) includes scores of photographs as well as interviews with teamsters, tavern operators, and common folk.

Searight died on April 3, 1899.

Just got done looking at my copy of "The Old Pike" by Thomas B. Searight with the publisher's date of 1894, not 1896! Please check your facts and correct!
