Antietam Battlefield Museum (closed)

18422 Shepherdstown Pike
Sharpsburg, MD 21756

This museum once housed the small, privately run Antietam Battlefield Museum. The most popular relic was the arm of a Civil War soldier. It's wasn't buried as you might think, rather it was out for public viewing. The gruesome artifact was copper green and was sure to nauseate everyone.

The museum closed in 2004 and there is no word on what happened to the arm. The National Park Service acquired the building and is now operating a more upscale museum.
