John Kennedy Lacock Photograph

John Kennedy Lacock Braddock Road Postcard No. 38: Half King's Rocks, near Jumonville, Pa.

1908

Jumonville, PA

Caption:

Orme's description of these rocks, which is so clear and exact, follows: 'This Indian camp was in a string position, being upon a high rock with a very narrow and steep ascent to the top. It has a spring in the middle, and stood at the termination of the Indian path to the Monongahela, at the confluence of Red-Stone Creek.' Braddock's tenth encampment, called Rock Fort, better known as the Great Rock, near Washington Springs and the Half King's old camp, is two miles southward of Dunbar's Camp. (See No. 39)
