John Kennedy Lacock Braddock Road Postcard No. 40: Tablet at Jumonville's Grave, Jumonville, Pa.

1908

Jumonville, PA

Caption:

Near this grave are the large rocks on which Washington and the Half King took positions, in their attack on Jumonville, May 28, 1754. This was the initial battle of the French and Indian War. Francis Parkman tersely put it: 'Judge it as we may, this obscure skirmish began the war that set the world on fire.'
