The Lamp Post Motel was built by hand by my Grandfather, James P. O'Brien Sr. with the help of my Father James P. O'Brien Jr. My Grandfather had a saw mill on the back of the property which he milled his own lumber off of the property for the project. There were a total of 5 rental units, two of these were beautiful, free standing cottages decorated with plenty of Gingerbread and fabulous color. The office (building on left) doubled as my grandparents home. There was also a screened in picnic area with outdoor grill in the center of the property and a brick lined goldfish pond just behind the fence as seen in the photo. The buildings are gone now but our family is left with many great memories of our visits to our Grandparents motel.
