Shawshank Redemption

Mansfield, OH 44902(800) 642-8282 www.mansfieldtourism.com/shawshank OK, this has absolutely nothing to do with Route 40. But The Shawshank Redemption is one of my favorite movies and I thought I'd let you know in case you like the move as well.
The Mansfield area (about an hour north of Columbus, Ohio) is where this marvelous movie was filmed. The Mansfield and Richland County Convention and Visitor Bureau has assembled a guide pointing out the film's locations, including:
- The Ohio State Reformatory (which was used for the exteriors shots of Shawshank Prison)
- The Bissman Building (which was used as the Brewer Hotel and the Portland Daily Bugle)
- Mansfield Warehousing and Distribution (which doubled for the interior scenes of Shawshank Prison)
- Central Park (where Brooks fed the birds)
- E&B Market (which was used as the Foodway Grocery Store)
- Malabar Farm State Park (a cabin was used for the murder scene; on oak tree outside the park was where Red finds Andy's buried treasure; in real life the park's main house is where Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall got married)
- Huntington Bank (which was used as the Casco Bank of Portland)
- Revivals Thrift Store (which was used as the Trailways Bus station)
- Wyandot County Courthouse (which was used for the court house scenes)
