The Liberty Motel in Greenfield is now gone. It was torn down in 2011, and a storage facility is now on the site. I grew up in Hancock County, and graduated from HS in 1985. For many years during my high school years and several years after, the Liberty Motel was also used as a tanning facility. One wing of rooms had the beds removed and tanning beds installed. This was nice as there were also restrooms in each room. The other wing of the building was still used as motel rooms. People would stay there during the Indy 500. Mr. and Mrs. Orr owned the motel when I went there to tan in high school. They were very nice people, and the motel was well maintained.
