From Mount Nebo Braddock's Road veers away somewhat to the north from the Cumberland Road in a series of absolutely straight lines, none of which vary more than five (5) degrees to the top of the mountain. The scar on the mountain is very marked in places. Great difficulties were encountered in the construction of the road over the mountain. Three waggons were entirely destroyed the first day and many more were badly shattered.
