This photo is a copy from an original in the Pennsylvania Historical Society, Philadelphia. Braddock's Field of later years has been so changed that it is extremely difficult to locate that portion of the field on which the battle was actually fought. One, however, cannot fully comprehend the nature of the action and the inevitableness of Braddock's defeat on July 9, 1755, without visiting the field.
